What key details should I know before enrolling in a part-time program?

Before you enroll, here are the essentials:

  • Admission Requirements:

    • Postsecondary Programs:

      You must have an OSSD (or equivalent), GED, or meet criteria through the Mature Student Assessment/ACE program.

    • Non-Postsecondary Programs:

      You need an OSSD or be at least 19 years old (or obtain approval from a Program Officer).

  • Prerequisites:

    • Some courses and programs require specific prerequisites. Verify these before enrolling to ensure a smooth learning experience.

  • Registration & Fees:

    • All fees—including course and material fees—are due at registration.

    • Your registration receipt is required at your first class.

  • Office Hours:

    • The Continuing Education office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., for any in-person support or inquiries.

  • Additional Considerations:

    • Parking (Thunder Bay):

      Permits are required on weekdays (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.).

    • Refund & Cancellation Policy:

      Courses may be cancelled if enrolment is too low, with full refunds issued in such cases. Withdrawals must be submitted at least 14 days before the start date for a full refund (subject to administrative fees).

How do I get started with applying for a part-time program?
  1. Choose Your Program: Browse the available part-time programs and certificates to select one that fits your goals.

  2. Apply to the Program: Complete the online application form for your chosen program. After applying, you'll receive an acceptance confirmation email from the admissions department, which lets you know that you can start registering for courses immediately.

How do I register for part-time courses?

You can register for part-time courses in two ways:

  1. Online Registration:

    • Visit the secure registration site at https://tc-prod-reg.confederationcollege.ca:8445/.

    • Fill out the online form with your details and follow the prompts to select your courses.

  2. In-Person Registration:

    • Go to The Hub in the Shuniah Building at Confederation College.

    • Registration is available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m.

    • Payments can be made by VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Debit, Cash, or Cheque.

How do I order my textbook for part-time courses?

Ordering textbooks is a straightforward process:

  1. Online Order:

    • Visit the Follett website at www.bkstr.com.

    • Click GO under the BOOKS heading, then under TEXTBOOK.

    • Use the drop-down menus:

      • Select Department: Choose the first two letters of your course code (e.g., AC, BA, CE).

      • Select Course: Pick your course number (e.g., 102).

      • Select Code: Choose the section number (e.g., 98 or 99).

    • Click Next, then select whether you want a new or used textbook.

    • Add the book to your cart and continue ordering or proceed to checkout.

  2. Order by Phone:

    • Call (807) 475-6225 or toll-free at 1-877-295-3851.

    • Provide your full name, address, student number, and course details (including section numbers) clearly.

  3. Order in Person:

    • Visit the Follett bookstore located on the first floor of the Shuniah Building at Confederation College.

    • You can also view a map of the Shuniah Building if needed.

Payment: The bookstore accepts Mastercard, Visa, American Express, money orders, or certified cheques. Note that textbooks will ship only after payment is processed. If you don't receive your texts within 8 working days, contact the bookstore.

How do I request my credential after completing a part-time program?

Once you’ve completed your program, request your credential by following these steps:

  1. Complete the Request Form:

    • Fill out the online Part-time Request to Graduate form with your personal details (name, student number, program, expected completion date, etc.).

  2. Pay the Graduation Fee:

    • A $30.00 fee may apply to part-time or off-track post-secondary graduates. This fee will be applied to your student account and must be fully paid before your credential is released. (Note: Many Continuing Education programs may be exempt, and you will be notified by email if the fee applies.)

  3. Credential Release:

    • If you graduate between April and early June, your credential will be held until Convocation in June. If you cannot attend, you may pick it up the following week, or it will be mailed to your most recent address on file.
